Governor Mikhail Vedernikov specifically mentioned the deaths of lieutenant colonel Alexei Vorozhtsov and lieutenant Denis Oleynikov, members of the Ka-52 helicopter crew. According to Vedernikov, they made every effort "to protect our country from the devastating consequences of the insurgents' reckless actions." The helicopter was shot down near the town of Talovaya in Voronezh.

Stanislav Voskresensky, the Head of the Ivanovo Region, refrained from providing the exact number of deceased pilots. He issued instructions to assist the families of the late pilots.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of Wagner, announced the so-called "march of justice" toward Moscow on the night of June 23. Within a day, he and his army managed to seize control of Rostov-on-Don and advance through the Voronezh and Lipetsk regions. The Oryx OSINT-project reported that during the mutiny, the Defense Ministry lost an IL-22M aircraft, three electronic warfare helicopters, one Mi-35M helicopter, a transport Mi-8 helicopter, and a Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter. Rybar, a pro-war Telegram channel, claimed that at least 13 pilots had died.

The Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the losses. Vladimir Putin mentioned the deaths of military personnel in his address to the nation on June 26, without specifying the number of casualties. The following day, Putin called for a minute of silence to honor the downed pilots.

The VCK-OGPU Telegram channel disclosed the names of eight crew members who presumedly perished in the IL-22M aircraft. Channel One war correspondent Irina Kuksenkova reported that there were ten individuals on board the IL-22M, all of whom lost their lives. The exact number of victims remains unknown.
