Samara Oblast becomes 'global center of anti-fascist movement'

Dmitry Azarov, the governor of Samara Oblast, recently declared the region as a 'global center of the anti-fascist movement'В in a post he shared. This statement followed an anti-fascist song festival, which, according to Azarov, featured participants from twelve countries, including Canada, Great Britain, China, Italy, Finland, Serbia, Montenegro, Lithuania, and others.

The politician expressed, "It is important for me that people of goodwill not just feel friendliness towards Russia, but are also not afraid to join our ranks to fight against fascist ideology."

Special guest Steven Seagal attended the event, while Denis Maydanov and SHAMAN represented Russia as performers. Thematic areas were also set up for Samara Oblast residents to express support for participants in the war in Ukraine.

Governor Azarov accompanied his VK post with a photo alongside SHAMAN, a singer whose songs are actively used for propaganda purposes. However, most comments under the picture contained complaints about high utility bills, issues with roads, and public transportation.

In the autumn of 2023, Governor Azarov suggested 'reforging' expatriates with a hammer, responding to journalists' questions regarding the readiness to accept Russians who had left the country after the war but decided to return. A year earlier, he had gifted Vladimir Putin an album containing photos of soldiers’ and officers’ wives.
