Elena Belozerova, a rural settlement deputy, stated that Maksim Vasiliev, a United Russia member of the Kursk Oblast Duma, had not fully paid the salaries of defense line builders. Belozerova claims Vasiliev’s company disbursed only 160,000 rubles, leaving a debt of 190,000 rubles.

Belozerova warns that if Vasiliev doesn't address the issue by the end of the week, she will lodge a complaint with Vladimir Putin and the State Prosecutor’s Office. The woman raises concerns about who will undertake the construction of a defense line under fire in the future if workers are not paid.

Vasiliev has disputed Belozerova’s accusations, attributing the problem not to a “contractor’s scam” but to the inaction of the Kursk Region Development Corporation, the entity that initially commissioned the defense line. He asserts that he used "his own funds" to partially settle the debt and plans to pursue legal action to compel the Corporation to cover the remaining amount.

Vasiliev gained attention after a video of him drinking beer in Mexico during Christmas holidays appeared online. Faced with criticism from Kursk residents, officials, and the United Russia party, he resigned from his position as deputy chairman of the budget committee and headed to Donbas. In August, Vasiliev publicly expressed his admiration for Vladimir Putin during the president’s visit to Kursk.
