Activist Sergei Ilyukhin from Severodvinsk has been elected a deputy of the city council. He went to the polls as a self-nominated candidate, and Ilyukhin won at all polling stations in his district except one. The voter turnout was 29.7% — according to Ilyukhin, this is a record for Severodvinsk.
His closest competitor, candidate Vladimir Sukharev from LDPR, took second place in the elections. Ilyukhin had a conflict with Sukharev before the elections: he invited the candidate from LDPR to hold an online discussion about the problems in the district in which they were elected. Sukharev did not respond to the appeal, and on meeting the activist, refused to discuss anything because of his "destructive position, hype, and personal disrespect for him and his team."
It took Sergey Ilyukhin two attempts to run for the elections. For the first time, the election committee refused him because of the signature sheet’s inconsistency with the sample. In particular, the committee found an error in the numbering and the name of the city council. Later Ilyukhin, having provided correctly drawn up documents to the regional election committee, received a certificate of a candidate for deputy.
