The Defender of the Architrave Day Project appearedВ in Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, on February 23, 2020. Residents Natalya Dukantoni and Galina Toropkina decided to keep the architraves, began to go to dump sites and save unique works.
Within a year since the project started, 50 local residents became participants in the restoration of the architraves, 15 people bought a tour to Gorodets and supported the citizens. Activists have saved more than 60 architraves and launched the Adopt an Architrave Campaign, thanks to which anyone can invest money in the restoration of any of the 12 architraves saved by the residents of Gorodets.
In 2021, the activists conducted an online tour of the museum quarter of Gorodets in honor of the Defender of the Architrave Day. As the historic preservation activists say, they held the event in the most bizarre forms - from architraves demonstrations to a motocross of bikers in their defense.
