On April 27, law enforcement officials conducted a search at the apartments of Konstantin Pavlov, a legislator from Bryansk, and a resident of Moscow. According to investigators, in 2020, the two men promised a Bryansk businessman that for 50 million rubles ($613,500) they would help him obtain permission to open a shopping and entertainment center. The businessman allegedly paid 35 million rubles ($429,450) but did not receive any assistance.

Pavlov has been named as a defendant in a criminal case on charges of large-scale fraud.В

The Investigative Committee has clarified that the case is unrelated to Pavlov's political or social activities. A 7x7 journalist has attempted to reach out to both Pavlov and the Communist party branch in the Bryansk region, but unsuccessfully.

It is worth noting that Konstantin Pavlov previously played a role in bringing home around 40 illegally mobilized men. He also raised complaints about poorly-equipped shelters in border villages and published a letter from local residents following an act of sabotage. Earlier, the legislator supported people protesting against a new pig farm in the region.
