During the rally, drivers from Kurgan parked their KAMAZ trucks on the road but later moved them to the roadside at the request of law enforcement officers.

Residents of Kurgan are protesting against restrictions imposed on large vehicles during the flood. Due to the new regulations, they are facing fines ranging from 400,000 to 500,000 rubles (approximately 4,500 to 5,600 USD).

The drivers believe that trucks transporting food during a flood should not be subjected to these new restrictions. They also urged the regional government and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to check the accuracy of the weight control cameras.

City Hall responded that drivers who actually provided assistance during the emergency may contact the administration to have their fines reviewed. However, officials deny using sewer trucks, whose drivers participated in the rally, during the flood.

In the spring of 2024, Kurgan Oblast experienced the most severe flood in the past 30 years, resulting in the complete destruction of 13 houses. The level of the Tobol River reached 1,045 cm. Authorities recognized 14,500 individuals as affected by the disaster.
