The court forbade
The court forbade Andrey Novak from approaching the house of his former partner, Inna Yakovleva, and from attempting to contact her or the witnesses in the criminal case. Novak was named a suspect in the case involving torture and threats of murder.
Andrey Novak had been in a relationship with Inna Yakovleva, the head of the regional chess federation. Investigators believe that on June 14, in Krasnoyarsk, he beat Yakovleva with his hands and feet and threatened to kill her.
Yakovleva testified that Novak had assaulted her more than once and had threatened to let their children “rot in an orphanage.” She took pictures of her injuries and contacted journalists.
Novak claimed that he did not know Yakovleva, but she provided photos from their family archive. A criminal case was initiated against Novak on June 22, after the situation received publicity.
