15 people were injured when rocket debris fell in Taganrog. Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev informed that some sustained minor injuries from the shrapnel, while three persons were hospitalized with more severe wounds. One woman suffered significant blood loss and is currently in intensive care. As of the initial reports, there were no casualties or people trapped under debris.

The explosion primarily affected the Taganrog Art Museum area, causing damage to the institution's walls, roof, garages, and warehouses.

The Russian Defense Ministry has classified the event as a terrorist attack. According to their unverified statement, the Russian air defense system intercepted the Ukrainian missile in the air, resulting in debris falling onto the city. The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal investigation into the matter.

An hour after the explosion, another missile was shot down over the Rostov region, without any casualties.

On July 17, there was an explosion on the Crimean Bridge, leading to the death of a couple from the Belgorod region who were on their way to Crimea for vacation. Their 14-year-old daughter survived but sustained injuries. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov extended an offer for the girl to visit a sanatorium in Crimea once she has recovered.

Three days later, a 14-year-old girl was killed in a drone attack on the peninsula.
