Vasily Gorelikov was found guilty of public calls for extremist activities motivated by political hatred (Article 280 of the Russian Criminal Code.)
The charges stemmed from a social media comment in which he wrote, "**ath to PUTINISTS."Â According to official records, Gorelikov "disagreed with the policies implemented by state authorities."Â Along with a one-year suspended sentence, he was banned from administering websites and public channels for 1.5 years and placed under probation for the same period.
Gorelikov was detained in October following an anonymous tip submitted to the chatbot of the Anti-Terrorism Commission of Primorsky Krai. The commission later published a video featuring his apology.
The activist was involved in preparations for the upcoming municipal elections in Ussuriysk. He is a volunteer with Boris Nadezhdin’s campaign headquarters in Vladivostok and a supporter of Yekaterina Duntsova’s political party The Dawn. In March, he was detained by law enforcement while conducting an exit poll for Nadezhdin’s campaign, accused of planning to pour green dye into a ballot box.
