Sardana Guryeva suggested the adoption of a law imposing criminal liability for domestic violence. She called for ensuring comprehensive support for victims and the creation of a working group to combat abuse.

"This is a pressing task," wrote the ombudsman on her VK page.

Guryeva referred to 'horrible tragedies' that were not prevented. Supposedly, she referred to the recent murder of Kazakhstan resident Saltanat Nukenova among other cases. Nukenova’s husband, Kuandyk Bishimbayev, beat her to death in a restaurant. After the tragedy, Kazakhstan adopted a law on domestic violence.

In late 2023, women in Yakutia established a community called 'You are not alone, Yakutia is with you' following the brutal murder of a local woman, Nadezhda Ammosova. The project assists victims of abuse; for example, they raised funds to hire a lawyer for a pregnant girl who lost her child after being beaten by a member of the Wagner PMC.
