The court

The court found Alexander Dimitrenko guilty of state treason and preparing sabotage. The state prosecutor demanded a 21-year sentence for him.

Dimitrenko was detained in May 2022. Law enforcement claimed to have found explosives in the man’s house and correspondence with Ukrainians on his phone. The prosecution alleged that the defendant was planning a terrorist attack on the train station.

Dimitrenko asserted that the explosives were planted. He also told that during the arrest, FSB agents hit him in the face and put a plastic bag over his head, forcing him to 'say whatever they demanded.' Voronezh activists also believe the case to be fabricated.

March 22 also marked the verdict for a teenager in Kemerovo, who was sentenced to 5.5 years in a penal colony for railway sabotage.
