Anna Shekalova was detained when she left her house for the pharmacy to buy medicines. According to the activist, six policemen ran up to her on the street and, without giving any reason, demanded to go with them to the police station. To her request to draw up a protocol of detention, one of them replied that it was impossible, since "the weather conditions do not allow it." After that, she was taken to the police station.
— The police said that there was some kind of protocol on me, because some private security company guard on Shies was in physical pain when I allegedly hit him. But I don’t remember that at all, ” — said Anna Shekalova.
Update March 3, 18:45. Anna Shekalova is suspected of spraying pepper spray on a guard at Shies station on May 10, 2019. The Telegram channel "Vesti s Shiesa" ("News from Shies") reports that the activist became ill at the police department. An ambulance was called for her. Shekalova's lawyer was allegedly “pushed out” of the department.
After a year and a half of protests, the Moscow and Arkhangelsk authorities abandoned the construction of a landfill at Shies station. However, some of the activists on duty at the station said that they would not leave the site of the former construction until the investor finishes reclamation of the site. The police reached out to them with the demand to remove the camp, and the contractor offered to move it to the forest or to other posts.
In early February, workers demolished the activists' tent camp “Leningrad”, which allegedly interfered with reclamation of the site. On the morning of February 18, the police blocked all entrances to Shies and detained six activists, including Anna Shekalova. In the evening, their comrades-in-arms came to Shies and saw that unknown people had destroyed the posts Banya (‘sauna’), Kostyor(‘campfire’), and Krepost’ (‘fortress’), which were restored by activists a few days later.
