Irina Nelson, a Novgorod Oblast resident listed as a terrorist and extremist, is currently unemployed. The sole source of income for her is alimony from her ex-husband. Nelson told 7x7 that she receives no allowances from the state or any other financial support. She even attempted to pawn her wedding ring, but was declined because her passport number was not found in the database. Efforts to open a bank card for her 14-year-old son proved futile as his personal data was also unrecognized.

In January 2023, Nelson applied for a job as a sorter at the “Pyaterochka” supermarket chain. She received a call back but learned that she did not pass the security service check. In July, she was hired by “Kapitoshka," a shop selling children’s clothing. A week and a half later, Nelson's boss asked her to resign at her own request. The manager explained that she had been summoned by the head of the Pola settlement, Sergei Petrov.

“I realized that our deputy, Maria Zykova, made a denunciation, stating that it is unacceptable for me to work with people in the shop and express my critical views on politics," Nelson told 7x7.

The “Kapitoshka” store paid Irina for a full month, and they “parted ways amicably.” After that, Nelson stopped looking for a job, believing that all options in the settlement were closed to her.

Irina Nelson was added to Rosfinmonitoring's list in August 2022 due to her anti-war posts on VK. Her bank accounts were blocked, and in the autumn, she was fined 300,000 rubles under the charge of incitement to terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Residents of Novgorod Oblast organized a fundraising campaign to collect the money for the fine.
