In the town of Cheremkhovo, a monument to local residents who died in the war in Ukraine has appeared. It depicts three men: a squad leader, a drone operator, and a machine gunner.

The site was previously occupied by the sculpture group 'Miners' Labour,' which was demolished on April 23. Mayor Vadim Semyonov cited 'constant vandalism' as the reason for this decision. He claimed that locals regularly destroyed the monument and that the administration no longer had the resources for 'endless restorations.'

At the opening of the monument to the military, Vadim Semyonov described it as a 'sacred place.' He urged citizens to 'show respect for the sculpture group and remember that this is a symbol of heroism and self-sacrifice.'

After the invasion of Ukraine began, monuments to local people who took part in the war began to appear in various places. Zabaykalsky Krai stood out in this regard, erecting three such monuments: two in Chita, and one in Krasnokamensk.
