According to Tsukanova, police officers in civilian clothes approached her at the airport where she was waiting for a flight to Moscow. She has been informed about an administrative violation case against her, but she is unaware of any specifics.В 

In January, Tsukanova arrived in Samara to take part in a rally in memory of those who had been killed in a deadly attack in Makiivka on New Year’s eve. The police filmed her on camera at the event’s supposed place. They also detained four women who happened to be there.

In December, Samara police officers stopped Tsukanova's car on her way to Moscow, where she was going to file some documents. The cops searched the car for drugs, recovered two handguns, and held her for six hours at a police station. The journalist, who was accompanying Tsukanova, was fined for an “extremist” quotation on social media.

The Council of Mothers and Wives had been formed after the announcement of mobilization. Women began posting videos about violations of the rights of those mobilized and their problems. Within a month, they organized a campaign against the threat of nuclear war; in St. Petersburg, they went on a picket demanding conscripts be withdrawn from the border with Ukraine and requesting a meeting with Putin.
