The authors of the appeal called Nikita Tushkanov’s dismissal illegal. They indicated in the petition that after the teacher had participated in a one-person picket on January 23, he had been asked to resign voluntarily. But Tushkanov continued working at school No. 1 of Mikun thanks to the resonance and support of students and their parents. After that, the man was dismissed because of old posts in social networks where officials found alcohol and suicide propaganda.

"I have signed it because teachers should not be afraid of being fired for their opinions! And children should see a new generation of free and honest teachers," Anastasia Oreshnikova, the creator of the petition, said in the comments' section.

The authors of the appeal reported that Tushkanov cooperated with the Alliance of Teachers. The organization helped him to draw up a statement of claim for reinstatement, which the teacher has filed to the Ust-Vym District Court and the prosecutor.

"I understand the local level of justice and that it will be a long process. I am ready to go through it to the end. And I will be back — sooner or later and whatever it takes!" Nikita Tushkanov said in his Instagram.

66 people have signed the petition within a day.

Nikita Tushkanov, a history and social studies teacher at school No. 1 of the town of Mikun, held a picket in defense of liberty of speech on January 23, 2021. He stood with a placard saying, "Keep silent or die".

After that, according to the man, officials of the Department of Education of the Ust-Vym District asked him to resign voluntarily. The Head of the Department of Education of the district Elena Pekach denied the information about his dismissal in a conversation with 7x7's correspondent.

On March 25, the teacher was dismissed for "committing an act of indecency by an employee performing educational functions." Officials found alcohol and suicide propaganda in Nikita Tushkanov's posts. Tushkanov posted the order for dismissal on Instagram.

On April 3, Elena Gulina from Syktyvkar held a one-person picket in support of the teacher.
