At a meeting to appeal against the arrest, Alexander Donskoy said that he had not organized a car race. In the end of August, the ex-mayor was arrested for 15 days for organizing an event.

Donskoy said that he was just passing by and did not know how to drive. He also complained that the police hit him during the arrest, he posted a photo with bruises on Instagram.

Donskoy demanded moral compensation not from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but from the organizers of the race. According to the ex-mayor, evidence of his involvement in the event was falsified. Despite that, the court upheld his arrest.

The uncoordinated event was organized by crypto blogger Aleksey Khitrov. The sports car owners wanted to stick “Rich and Successful” signs on their cars and drive around the city center.

The police detained 107 participants of the event, and the cars were evacuated to an impoundment lot. According to Donskoy, other participants were also given up to 15 days of arrest.

In addition to Donskoy and participants in the rally, the police detained В«ShotВ» and В«ZvezdaВ» correspondents.
