On March 6, Nikolai Koshman was attacked by unknown perpetrators, resulting in multiple injuries, including a broken arm, a crushed jaw, and craniocerebral injuries. Koshman’s wounds qualify as “serious bodily injuries.” The police have yet to identify the attackers.

Currently, Koshman is suing Alexei Denisenko, an elected official and a member of the United Russia party, and the administration of the Yetkulsky District. He wants Denisenko to be stripped of his mandate due to his wife's alleged foreign assets.
In 2022, a similar assault was committed against Victor Shalyakin, chairman of the Yabloko party in Novgorod. He was attacked while distributing posters and pacifist leaflets. However, instead of finding the perpetrator, the police filed a complaint against Shalyakin. The court eventually fined him 5 thousand rubles ($70) for illegal campaigning. In January 2023, the verdict was reversed and the man was awarded 15 thousand rubles ($210) for his expenses and moral damages.
On March 6, Irina Porovoznik, a volunteer from Karelia, filed a complaint accusing local official Igor Derevyagin of assaulting her when she attempted to walk dogs at a municipal shelter. Porovoznik suffered a broken rib and believes that the conflict took place due to her criticism about the poor care of the dogs.
