Reports about the death of the deputy head of the department for mobilization Stanislav Rzhitsky appeared on the evening of July 10. According to Telegram channels, Rzhytsky was shot during his morning jog near the sports complex "Olympus". Unconfirmed official information suggests that he sustained four gunshot wounds, with two bullets hitting his chest and two passing through his arm and side. A criminal case has been opened, and investigations are underway.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry released a statement the following morning, confirming Rzhytsky's murder. The agency stated that he was shot seven times with a Makarov pistol. However, the Defense Ministry denied any responsibility for the killing.

Ukrainian media reported that Rzhytsky was allegedly involved in shelling incidents in Ukraine, including the attack on Vinnytsia on July 14, 2022, which resulted in the deaths of 27 people. Rzhytsky is blacklisted on the "Peacemaker" website as a participant in the war in Ukraine.

The Baza telegram channel contacted Rzhitsky's father, who stated that his son had filed a discharge report from the Russian Armed Forces in December 2021 and did not participate in the war. According to Rzhitsky's father, the Defense Ministry dismissed him in August 2022, after which he took a job in the administration of Krasnodar. The father also claimed that Rzhitsky's inclusion in the "Peacemaker" database was due to his involvement in transferring the submarine "Zaporizhzhia" after Crimea's annexation to Russia in 2014.

Baza reported that Rzhitsky did not receive any threats, or anonymous messages, or have any involvement in conflicts before the incident.

On the evening of July 11, the Russian Investigative Committee announced the detention of a suspect in connection with Stanislav Rzhitsky's murder. Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels suggested that the suspect could be Sergei Denisenko, the former president of the Ukrainian Karate Federation, who was allegedly found in possession of a pistol with a silencer.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, there have been periodic assassinations of Russian propagandists and military figures. Examples include the car bombing that killed Daria Dugina, the daughter of a "Russian world" ideologist, on August 20, 2022, in the Moscow region. On April 2, 2023, a bomb exploded during an event with "war correspondent" Vladlen Tatarsky, resulting in his death.

On May 6, a car belonging to writer Zakhar Prilepin exploded in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Prilepin sustained injuries, including a mine blast wound, contusion of both lungs, as well as numerous fractures and bruises. A 29-year-old resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Permyakov, was detained on suspicion of organizing the explosion. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that Permyakov recently obtained Russian citizenship and confessed to working for Ukrainian secret services.
