В результате пожаров сгорело более 10,7 миллиона гектаров
Экологическая группа "Земной Альянс" (Earth Alliance), одним из основателей которой является актёр Леонардо Ди Каприо, пожертвовала три миллиона долларов на спасение Австралии, где уже более трёх месяцев не прекращаются лесные пожары. Об этом звезда Голливуда сообщил в своём Instagram.
По данным источника, средства будут направлены для помощи жителям страны, которые пострадали от стихии, а также на спасение дикой природы и её восстановление.

Напомним, масштабные лесные пожары в Австралии бушуют с октября прошлого года. В начале января дым от них дошёл до Новой Зеландии, а на текущей неделе – до Аргентины и Чили.
Соцсети наводнили кадры охваченных огнем лесов, пожарных и волонтеров, которые спасают животных. На помощь пришли многие: идет сбор средств по всему миру, интернет-пользователи распространяют информацию. Помимо Ди Каприо, проблема не оставила равнодушным и актёра Криса Хемсворта – он выделил на борьбу со стихией миллион долларов.
"Как и вы, я хочу поддержать борьбу с лесными пожарами в Австралии. Вклад моей семьи в общее дело – миллион долларов. Надеюсь, вы, ребята, тоже сможете скинуться. Каждый пенни имеет значение. Я опубликовал ссылки для поддержки пожарных и благотворительных организаций", – написал артист в своём Instagram.
Николь Кидман и Кит Урбан также не остались в стороне, пожертвовав 500 тысяч долларов австралийской сельской пожарной службе.

It can only take so much, we live as if we have another planet to go to. Take & take & ignore reality. The world came together for the Amazon a few months back, where 900,000 hectares burnt. In Australia over 5,000,000 hectares have burnt & it’s still out of control. Where is our global help? Our government & military help? 500 million animals have died from direct or indirect suffering. We are living in smoke filled towns or cities. This is the most devastation Australia has suffered in decades. I am lucky, I spent last night with my friends & family, still not without the strong smoke smell that fills the town as the wind changed from fires burning 19km away. The sun setting through a smokey haze. Many people spent last night at sea, fleeing their homes, for safety on the ocean, or fighting fires risking their lives. In 2020, we need to change, if not already, change your habitats, think about the impact. Change your diet, know what you support. The earth is different now, it’s not like 100 years ago. The land, soil, air, can’t handle it anymore. Whether it’s small or drastic change within yourself it’s what we need. Please understand our government doesn’t have our best interest in mind, the environment in mind. Speak up, come together, support each other, there is no Planet B. If the planet burns, how can we breathe? Australia needs help to be green again, not drilled and farmed & cleared to the point of no return and drought.
